Turkish Defender Merih Demiral to Join Al-Ahli Camp After Euro 2024 Break

Turkish defender Merih Demiral is set to join Al-Ahli’s first football team camp on Thursday, following a break granted by the club’s management after his participation in UEFA Euro 2024 with the Turkish national team, sources confirmed to “Arriyadiyah.”

The same sources revealed that German coach Matthias Jaissle has requested the fitness coach to develop a special program for the 26-year-old Demiral. The defender will join group training sessions after completing his rehabilitation phase.

Demiral delivered outstanding performances with the Turkish national team in Euro 2024, which ended in the quarterfinals with a 1-2 loss to the Netherlands. Although he did not participate in the quarterfinal match due to a disciplinary decision by the tournament’s organizing committee, he scored both goals that secured Turkey’s advancement to the round of 16 against Austria (2-1).

In parallel, coach Jaissle conducted a technical drill on the midfield in preparation for the friendly match against Qatari club Al-Gharafa on Friday, which will be the team’s third friendly during their training camp in Austria.

Al-Ahli has played two matches during the camp, securing a 3-1 victory against Austrian club Blau-Weiß Linz and a 1-0 win against Hungarian club Újpest.
