Al-Ittihad Club Signs French Midfielder Moussa Diaby from Aston Villa

In a major move to bolster their midfield, Saudi Arabia’s Al-Ittihad Club officially announced on

Wednesday the signing of French midfielder Moussa Diaby from Aston Villa.

The club has yet to disclose the duration of the contract.

Al-Ittihad Club celebrated the new signing on their official social media account on the X platform.

They posted a video featuring an airplane with Diaby’s image, captioned: “Flight MD1927 on its way to its final destination with a new tiger on board.”

Last Thursday, local press quoted Diaby’s agent, who revealed that the player’s move to Al-Ittihad would be finalized within the week.

He stated, “Diaby is open to playing in Saudi Arabia; this is no secret.

I believe everything will be clear next week.” On Sunday, headlines read, “Al-Ittihad agrees final terms with Diaby..

. negotiating with Aston Villa.” The reports indicated that Al-Ittihad’s management had finalized the agreement with

Aston Villa, ensuring Diaby’s transfer to their team for the upcoming season.

At 25 years old, Diaby becomes the second foreign player to join

Al-Ittihad during the current summer transfer window, following the signing of Algerian player Houssem Aouar.

Moussa Diaby, also 25, began his football journey at the Paris Saint-Germain Academy.

He then represented PSG’s first team and had a brief loan spell with Italian club Crotone.

Subsequently, he transferred to Bayer Leverkusen in Germany before joining

Aston Villa last summer in a deal valued at £34 million.

Diaby, whose market value is estimated at €55 million, donned the “Villans” jersey in

54 matches across all competitions, scoring 10 goals and providing 9 assists, according to statistics from the global site Transfermarkt.
