FIFA Urged to Impose Sanctions on Al-Nassr Club

Introduction

The International Football Federation (FIFA) has been

called upon by the Saudi Football Federation to take

action against Al-Nassr Football Club, the team

Cristiano Ronaldo currently plays for, for failing to

comply with an arbitration decision made by the

Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) regarding

Leicester City’s outstanding dues.

The Nigerian forward, Ahmed Musa, was signed

by Al-Nassr from Leicester City, and the CAS ruling

imposed penalties on Al-Nassr for failing to honor the

contractual obligations related to the transfer.

Al-Nassr Football Club, based in Saudi Arabia, is facing

demands from FIFA to settle their outstanding financial

obligations resulting from the acquisition of Nigerian

striker, Ahmed Musa, from Leicester City.

The dispute arises from Al-Nassr’s failure to adhere to

a decision made by CAS, the highest sports court, regarding

payments due to Leicester City

In response to Leicester City’s claims, CAS ruled in

favor of the English club, imposing a significant

penalty of two million Saudi riyals on Al-Nassr.

This penalty comprises an additional condition

set by Leicester City, which demanded a payment

of 820,000 riyals if Musa were to participate in

more than 40 matches for Al-Nassr, and one million

riyals if the team secured either the first or second

position in the league. Moreover, Al-Nassr is liable for

additional fees for every extra match Musa

plays in other tournaments.

Unfortunately, Al-Nassr has developed a reputation for

repeated delays in paying their players’ dues, leading

to several legal disputes being filed with FIFA.

The current dispute involving Leicester City has caught

international attention due to the high profile of

Al-Nassr’s player, Cristiano Ronaldo. FIFA has been

urged to intervene and impose sanctions on

Al-Nassr to ensure compliance with the CAS decision.

The Saudi Football Federation, acting on behalf

of FIFA, has sent an official request to the

international governing body to take swift

action in this matter. The failure of Al-Nassr to

comply with contractual obligations could

result in severe consequences, such as a transfer ban

or a points deduction, which would greatly impact

the club’s sporting ambitions and reputation.

Conclusion

The ongoing dispute between Al-Nassr Football Club

and Leicester City, involving the transfer of

Ahmed Musa, has escalated to the international level.

FIFA has been requested by the Saudi Football

Federation to hold Al-Nassr accountable for

their failure to meet their financial obligations.

As the world awaits FIFA’s decision on

this matter, the reputation and integrity

of both clubs are at stake.

It remains to be seen how FIFA will address this

situation and ensure the fair resolution of the dispute.
